IPAs have become a staple in the craft beer scene and OKC breweries have some of the best in the business. If you don’t already know, IPA stands for India Pale Ale and is extremely hop-focused and popular with craft beer fans across the nation. Our local brewers have perfected hazy IPAs, fruity IPAs, double and triple IPAs, and even crossover sour IPAs. We recently toured several OKC breweries and have compiled our list of favorites for your enjoyment. Here’s our Top 5 IPA Beer Hop selections:

Anthem Brewing’s Rye’d Or D’IPA

The first time I tried this beer was at McNellies Pub in Midtown back before taprooms were allowed in OKC. This Double IPA with an 8.3% ABV is simply delicious. Using rye malt and Pacific Northwest hops, Anthem’s brewers pack a ton of flavor into every pint. With a rich copper color and a slight haze, you won’t be disappointed. In fact, this might even become your ride-or-die IPA of choice.

Lively Beerworks’ Grapefruit IPA

Although this one doesn’t have a catchy name, the taste alone earns this flagship beer a spot on our list of top IPAs in OKC. At 6.5% ABV and with a juicy, tropical flavor, this IPA rivals any other fruited IPA in the metro area. Swing by the taproom and have a pint or two…and check out their “Mug Club” program while you’re there.

Angry Scotsman’s Scotsman IPA

Clocking in at 6.3% ABV, this West Coast-style IPA is not only award-winning but smooth and drinkable. The beer won best IPA at the 2022 Oklahoma Craft Beer Festival with a judges statement of “everything an IPA should be.” Angry Scotsman also offers several other IPAs, including a Hazy IPA (Peer Pressure), and a Triple NEIPA (That One, This) and an IPA rotator depending on the season. Enjoy each as a pint or as a flight if you’re feeling hoppy.

Vanessa House Beer Co’s Broken Tile Double IPA

This was my first double IPA and I was hooked from the first sip. Coming in at strong 8.4% ABV, this New England Hazy Double IPA delivers massive deliciousness with an incredibly smooth finish. Swing by their taproom in Automobile Alley for a pint and check out the retro 80s decor and rad interior. If you get hungry, Hideaway Pizza is right across the street. Their fried mushrooms go perfectly with a tasty craft beer!

Skydance Brewing’s Massive IPA Lineup

That’s not the name of a beer…Jake and his crew literally have a huge number of IPAs on their weekly menu. Their staple IPA is the Fancy Dance, which is a 6.8% ABV Hazy IPA, but the brewery releases a new beer each week to keep fans like you and me coming back for more. From double and triple IPAs to sour IPAs and more, this Native-owned brewery knows how to brew a tasty IPA.

Whether you like hoppy or fruity, these breweries have an IPA to tickle your tastebuds. Lots of other OKC breweries offer IPAs, but these are some of our favorites and are all within about a mile from each other – so you can hop from one brewery to another.
